Born and raised in London, Ontario Canada, destined to succeed in the art world from the moment she picked up her first crayon, Blair Nadeau stumbled into a love of fashion at the age of 15, both on her own accord and from the influence of her fashionable mother and grandmother. From that moment on, she pursued her love of fabric and sequins, studying 2 years of textile art and printmaking at London's Beal Art school and then embarking on 4 years at Ryerson's prestigious fashion design school. With 3 years of real world work experience under her belt, jet setting her to indulging European cities, she discovered her love of millinery in a Selfridge boutique and upon that discovery, Feathered was born. Inspired by the beauty of one of nature's softest and most luxurious natural textiles as well as the luxe of European life and early Hollywood decadence of decades past, Blair has created a collection of exquisite and indulging cocktail hats and hair designs. Feathered was launched in April 2009 after months of designing and researching both feathers and vintage hair designs.
Blair was inspired by the beauty of feathers and always enjoyed the elegance of hair wear from decades past. From this inspiration, as well as travels through Europe, she launched her 2009 collection of stunning Feather cocktail hats and hair designs. With new designs and themes always being explored and developed, there is a very exciting future for Feathered! The 2010 collection will definitely showcase all things beautiful! Feathered - By Blair Nadeau, prides itself in being a high quality piece of hair art, with each piece being made exclusively by the designer herself. Each feather is imported from the best suppliers and hand chosen for perfection; shaped/trimmed by hand and meticulously applied to each design. Blair sources the best quality embellishments for each design and hand finishes each piece with love. Feathered believes in individuality and uniqueness. There are no prices on the website as each piece is custom made based on designs featured. Each customer has the opportunity to purchase a Feathered Cocktail Hat, Hair Pin, or Hair Design exactly as shown on the model, or can choose one of the styles as a base design and custom create their piece with a personal consultation with the designer herself. Each piece is available in a variety of colours which are available upon consultation. Each Design is also available in a variety of embellishments whether it is rhinestones, sinamay ribbons, fresh water pearls, salt water pearls, sequins, covered buttons etc, as well as available on hair pins, clips, combs or headbands. Starting price points for each design range from the following for each style - As price points vary depending on the embellishments used in the finished piece; each custom consultation is followed with a detailed costing sheet. High School Fashion Course Lecture
On November 12, Blair with have the exciting opportunity of teaching a grade 11/12 fashion class, the importance of developing trend and inspiration boards for their collections. She will be leading the students into designing their own trends boards. So much fun!! Pictures to follow!

Ryerson Fashion Lecture
Designer Blair Nadeau had the fabulous opporunity of going back to her Alma Mater Ryerson University to be involved in a first-year fashion class, as one of three Toronto Accessory Designers, to head up a panel discussion on starting up a successful design business. It was a great honor to go back to where it all began and reconnect with Ryerson! Looking forward to more connections in the future!

Braz for a Cause – Charity Gala
Feathered is once again honored to be helping to support the fight against breast cancer by donating a stunning cocktail hat piece to the Braz for a Cause charity benefit on Oct 16 in London Ontario.
The event is always incredibly successful in raising funds and awareness in this ongoing fight. We are excited to be able to contribute to this cause.

For the Birds – Charity Gala
Feathered is honored to be donating a special piece – Crystal High Society – to the “For the Birds” Charity Gala that is being held to combat the extinction of our lovely feathered friends. Too many birds are going extinct at an alarmingly rapid rate and we fully support this organization and are excited to be able to lend a small part in helping wildlife.

Feathered on the Runways
Tonight Feathered was featured at the Sony Style – Woman’s Post fashion show at the Distillery District Fermenting Cellar. Fall 2009 Cocktail hat Lady Juliet was featured and the model looked just stunning wearing this design on the catwalk. Stay tuned for photos of the event.

The Clothing Show Follow-up
WOW!! What a blast the Fall 2009 Clothing Show was! Feathered was the hot topic at the show with many people walking away with feathers in their hair and zippers on their heads…amazing!
We want to thank everyone for all of their support, especially the lovely Karen Carrillo of Freedom Clothing and Koo.Coo as well as Devin Henderson of Above and Beyond Event Services! You girls were great!

Feathered at the Toronto International Film Festival
Feathered had a great 6 day run at the Toronto International Film Festival. We were 1 of 50 featured Canadian companies (companies of the likes of Tim Hortons, HBC, Roots, Hey’s etc) in CBC’s The Hour’s Made In Canada TIFF Swag Lounge! What an honor that was. We provided 35 of our latest fall pieces, hats, rings, clips, pins and headbands to a wide array of A-List Celebrities who made their way through the lounge during the event. Feathered was a huge hit and is now owned by some very big Hollywood Starlets! We want to thank CBC, The Hour, Isabella Paterson and Devin Henderson for organizing this fantastic event and making Feathered a name that Actresses are now aware of! We can’t be more excited then we are!

On August 17th - despite Tornadoes and Downpours, Feathered, Freedom Clothing Collective and Above and Beyond Event Services along with Make Sale Organizer Sarah Magwood of Cozette Designs turned Room 222 at the Drake Hotel into a Boudair of design. There was a mask designing station and a candy buffet and designs from many local artisans, including Feathered. It was a fun night filled with Wine, Hipsters and Design. On July 17th Feathered and Freedom Clothing held their first Fashion Show together (and definitely not their last) at the Opera House for the annual Summer Splash In the City Art/Music and Fashion Show. Show designers included Lucian Matis of Project Runway Canada Season 1. The event was a lot of fun and helped launch the latest Feathered Product - Heavy Metal Rose - Zippered Rose Ring! To order your own custom designed Feathered Hair Design, Cocktail Hat or Hair Pin either email the designer at with your inquiry and which piece you are interested in, or you can visit the contact page and fill in the simple form with your inquiry and we will email you back to begin the consultation immediately.
Once the consultation is finished and you have chosen your special hand made piece, a lead time of 3-5 days for the Hair Pins and Hair Designs and 1-2 weeks for the Cocktail hat is required. Payment is available through PayPal after an invoice is issued and shipment of the goods will be made within 24 hours of payment.
